Youth Ministry

No greater privilege is bestowed upon a young man of the parish than choosing to serve as an altar boy.  What a unique opportunity to serve our Lord and to grow in stature and grace within the church.

Open to all high school students grades 9 through 12.  This ministry offers fellowship with peers, social and athletic activities in a wholesome Orthodox Christian environment and the opportunity to share knowledge of our Greek heritage, customs and culture.  The group meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings.

The children of our community ages 6 plus are instructed in traditional folk dances ofGreece.  Several performances are scheduled throughout the year which includes daily performances at the annual Grecian festival.

The Greek language is ours – to learn, to enjoy and to preserve.  Three levels of classes are offered in our school for children of all ages.  We encourage all parents to register their children.

Mrs. Anna Lemanis is the Greek school teacher.   For the winter/spring semester 2017-2018, classes are held Wednesdays 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The Greek School follows the calendar of Barnstable County schools.

Click her to access a registration form.  Greek School is currently free to all parishioners who are in good standing (both financially and sacramentally) with St. George.  If you have a question about your standing, please contact Fr. Peter.

If not in good standing, fees are:

  • $200 first child
  • $150 2nd child
  • $75 3rd child

  • What kind of adults will your children become?
  • What values and standards will be important to them?
  • What kind of character will they have?
  • Will they know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?

The church does its share in giving the  answers to these questions.  It offers an excellent Sunday school program for preschool and grades K-8.
